This weekend is a deep dive into the RocketBeats practice – a functional, fun, modern approach to dynamic yoga.

In case you don’t already know – RocketBeats is a breath-based dynamic vinyasa practice. Each class has one of four directions of travel, focusing on specific anatomical movements. The directions always stay the same but the sequences constantly change.

Do each direction regularly to gain a deeper understanding of how and why you move. RB places a strong emphasis on the balance of strength and flexibility so that you can find balance between what you need and what you want.

What to Expect

This is a series of 4 sessions held over a single weekend.

Each session is dedicated to a particular direction of travel – attend one session to focus on a single direction of travel or all 4 to achieve a well-rounded practice.

Each session consists of….

  • The low down on what each direction of travel actually means and why we do what we do
  • A direction-focussed workshop where you get all the drills you need to develop your strength and flexibility
  • A direction-focussed asana practice, where you get to breathe, have fun and try out some new things

Saturday 12th April

12.15pm – 3pm – UP

  • UP is all about shoulder strength and flexibility
  • The workshop will focus on shoulder strengthening and opening so that you can refine your alignment and stability in every inversion
  • In the asana practice, you can expect A LOT of arm balances, inversions, transitions and binds

4.30pm-7.15pm – DOWN

  • DOWN is all about hip strength and flexibility
  • The workshop will focus on glute strength and hip mobility, essential if you wanna hold those complex standing balances for more than a minute
  • In the asana practice, you can expect an army of warriors, standing balances and hip openers

Sunday 13th April

12.15pm – 3pm – FORWARDS

  • FORWARDS is all about engaging the front of the body to open the back
  • The workshop will focus on drills to improve your bandha checks, transitions and presses
  • The asana practice will be peppered with hip compression, deep core, transitions and opportunities to press

4.30pm-7.15pm – BACKWARDS

  • BACKWARDS is all about engaging the back of the body to open the front
  • The workshop will focus on glute engagement, core stabilisation, spinal extension and shoulder opening drills to move into distributed, even and comfortable backbends
  • You can expect an asana practice with a large range of backbends, symmetrical and asymmetrical

Teaching Team

Imi Wiseman & Alan Ellman

Imi Wiseman and Alan Ellman are a teaching team originating from the Rocket tradition who have incorporated many movement modalities to create their own style of modern dynamic yoga. They are committed to challenging dogma, disrupting the norm and encouraging you to think for yourself.

Is this for me?

This weekend is suitable for you whether you already practice RB and want to know more about why we do what we do or whether you’re curious and want to practice this style more.

All that we ask is that you have a fairly regular dynamic yoga practice and are curious in doing new things – or maybe doing the same things differently!
